Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Monday, October 1, 2012. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 102 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1890, an act of Congress creates Yosemite National Park, home of such natural wonders as Half Dome and the giant sequoia trees. Environmental trailblazer John Muir (1838-1914) and his colleagues campaigned for the congressional action, which was signed into law by President Benjamin Harrison and paved the way for generations of hikers, campers and nature lovers, along with countless "Don't Feed the Bears" signs.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The Sun is about 93 million miles from Earth, yet it's 270,000 times closer than the next nearest star, which is 4.3 light years away.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Respect, our second Pillar of Character, represented by the color yellow or gold:
People are not things, and everyone has a right to be treated with dignity. We certainly have no ethical duty to hold all people in high esteem, but we should treat everyone with respect, regardless of who they are and what they have done. We have a responsibility to be the best we can be in all situations, even when dealing with unpleasant people.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
