Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Monday, May 6, 2013. The forecast calls for chance of rain showers with a high of around 63 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mrs. Mallinger's class to lead us with the pledge.

Announcements:

Next week we will be joined by Ms. S. Isherwood's class for the pledge.

Today is...

Officially No Diet Day!

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs an executive order creating the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The WPA was just one of many Great Depression relief programs created under the auspices of the Emergency Relief Appropriations Act, which Roosevelt had signed the month before. The WPA, the Public Works Administration (PWA) and other federal assistance programs put unemployed Americans to work in return for temporary financial assistance. Out of the 10 million jobless men in the United States in 1935, 3 million were helped by WPA jobs alone.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The harder you concentrate, the less you blink.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green. Think about being responsible for a garden.
  • Do what you are supposed to do
  • Plan ahead
  • Persevere: keep on trying!
  • Always do your best
  • Use self-control
  • Be self-disciplined
  • Think before you act — consider the consequences
  • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes
  • Set a good example for others
According to Abraham Lincoln, 16th U.S. president, “You can’t escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”

CST testing continues today. Please remember to be quiet around campus this morning and show respect for our testers. Take a deep breath, relax, and show what you know!

Teachers, also remember that all electronic devices must be off during testing. This includes classroom computers, teacher laptops, iPods, and cell phones. Also, students that arrive after 8:30 will not come to your classroom until after testing is complete. They will go to the library.

From Mr. Hernandez; no soccer today due to the weather.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
