Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Monday, June 10, 2013. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of around 73 degrees.

Today is...

Officially Iced Tea Day.

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1752, Benjamin Franklin flies a kite during a thunderstorm and collects a charge in a Leyden jar when the kite is struck by lightning, enabling him to demonstrate the electrical nature of lightning.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

A praying mantis has only one ear.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

It's Pillars of Character Week at RSU! Are you a TRRFCC (terrific) student? If you are, then you are demonstrating the Six Pillars of Character.
Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.

All year we've been talking about the Pillars of Character. During our last few days of school I challenge you to do something each day that demonstrates the Pillar of the Day. The Pillar for today is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.

According to Aesop, Greek fabulist, "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Batter up! At 8:30 today, RSU celebrates the annual 5th grade vs. Staff softball game.
Peace Patrol will be having their pizza party at 10:30 in room 50.
Tomorrow, Awards Assemblies will take place in the MPR.
  • K/1 at 8:15
  • 2/3 at 9:15
  • 4 at 10:30
5th grade will have their awards on Wednesday during promotion. Promotion will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 in the MPR.

Also on Wednesday, we will have our annual Field Day for grades K-4 on the playground in the morning.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
