Today is Monday, January 7, 2013. The forecast calls for a partly cloudy skies with a  high of around 59 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mr. Hernandez's class to lead us with the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mr. Plunkett's third grade for the pledge.

January 7th is officially, "National Old Rock Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1789, America's first presidential election is held. Voters cast ballots to choose state electors; only white men who owned property were allowed to vote. As expected, George Washington won the election and was sworn into office on April 30, 1789.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Some frogs survive the winter by freezing almost solid.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Citizenship, the sixth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple:
Do your share to make your school and community better • Cooperate • Get involved in community affairs • Stay informed; vote • Be a good neighbor • Obey laws and rules • Respect authority • Protect the environment • Volunteer
According to a Hindu proverb, "Like the body that is made up of different limbs and organs, all moral creatures must depend on each other to exist."

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
