Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Monday, December 16, 2013. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of about 79 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Roadrunners from Mrs. Dias's class.

Next week, Mrs. Laquindanum's class will be leading us in the pledge.

Announcements:

Today is...
National Chocolate-covered Anything Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1773, a group of Massachusetts colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians board three British tea ships moored in Boston Harbor and dump 342 chests of tea into the water. Becoming known as the Boston Tea Party.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
It takes 8 minutes and 19 seconds for light to travel from the sun to Earth.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
ItIt's Pillars of Character Week at RSU!

Are you a TRRFCC (terrific) student? If you are then you are demonstrating the Six Pillars of Character.
Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.

Everyday I see RSU students show good character. In fact, this campus is overflowing with great Pillars of Character.

This week, keep an eye out for your fellow students demonstrating good character and let them know that they are doing a great job.

According to Henri Bergson, French philosopher, "Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought."

Can-Do Food Drive
It's that time of year again! It's time for the annual Rock Springs Can-Do Food Drive! The food drive will run from Dec. 9th - Dec. 19th. Bring only non-perishable foods to donate to those in need this season. Today's tally is 473 cans!

Talent Show
Auditions = Monday 1/20

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
