Today is day 99 of school on this Monday, February 2, 2015. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of about 77 degrees.
This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from the Kindergarten classes to lead us in the pledge.
Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Baier's class.
On this Day in History:
On this day in 1887, Groundhog Day, featuring a rodent meteorologist, is celebrated for the first time at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. According to tradition, if a groundhog comes out of its hole on this day and sees its shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather; no shadow means an early spring.
Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Crocodiles swallow stones to help them dive deeper.
Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.
According to John Stuart Mill, 19th-century English philosopher and economist, "Those only are happy who have their minds fixed on some object other than their own happiness; on the happiness of others, on the improvement of mankind, even on some art or pursuit, followed not as a means, but as itself an ideal end. Aiming thus at something else, they find happiness by the way."
Testing today is Mrs. Berns, Mrs. Andrews, and Mrs. S. Isherwood. Be sure to remember to take your time, read the questions thoroughly, and do your best.
