Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 76 of school on this Monday, December 15, 2014. The forecast calls for cloudy skies today with a high of about 65 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Ms. S. Isherwood's class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Werner's class.

Today is...
Cat Herders Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1791, Virginia becomes the last state to ratify the Bill of Rights, making the first ten amendments to the Constitution law and completing the revolutionary reforms begun by the Declaration of Independence.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
While we're awake, our brain generates enough power to illuminate a light bulb of 25 watts.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
It's Pillars of Character Week at RSU!
  • Are you a TRRFCC (terrific) student? If you are then you are demonstrating the Six Pillars of Character.
  • Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
  • Everyday I see RSU students show good character. In fact, this campus is overflowing with great Pillars of Character.
  • This week, keep an eye out for your fellow students demonstrating good character and let them know that they are doing a great job.

According to Henri Bergson, French philosopher, "Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought."

4th grade week.

Can-Do Food Drive
The annual Rock Springs Can-Do is here! The food drive will run from December 8th-December 18th. Our goal is 1,000 cans! Our current count is 710.

Talent Show
For anyone planning to audition for the Talent Show, even if you're still just thinking about it, please meet Mrs. Zacharias in the MPR this Thursday after school for a short meeting from 1:05-1:15.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
