Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 66 of school on this Monday, December 1, 2014. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies today with a high of about 75 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Boyne's classes to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Heiland's class.

Announcements:

Happy Birthday
Mrs. Jones - last Friday
Mrs. Riley - yesterday

Today is...
Rosa Parks Day

On this Day in History:

On this day in 1955, In Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks is jailed for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man, a violation of the city's racial segregation laws. The successful Montgomery Bus Boycott, organized by a young Baptist minister named Martin Luther King, Jr., followed Park's historic act of civil disobedience.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Chimpanzees are the only animals that can recognize themselves in a mirror.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.

  • Be kind
  • Be compassionate and show you care
  • Express gratitude
  • Forgive others
  • Help people in need

According to Aesop, Greek fabulist, "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Can-Do Food Drive
The annual Rock Springs Can-Do food drive is coming. The food drive will run from December 8th-December 18th. Our goal is 1,000 cans!

Teachers
iPods will be returned to you by tomorrow. I am updating today.
Leadership meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday.

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
