Good morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Friday, October 12, 2012. The forecast is calling partly cloudy skies and a chance of showers with a high of 70 degrees.

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.

October 12 is officially, "Farmer's Day". We all have to get our food from somewhere and the men and women who sow the seeds are finally getting their just rewards.
Today is also "International Moment Of Frustration Scream Day".

On this Day in History:

On this day in in 1492, After sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, Italian explorer Christopher Columbus sights a Bahamian island, believing he has reached East Asia. His expedition went ashore the same day and claimed the land for Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain, who sponsored his attempt to find a western ocean route to China, India, and the fabled gold and spice islands of Asia.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

Octopuses have three hearts.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The word of the week is Responsibility, our third Pillar of Character, represented by the color green:
When responsible people agree to do something, they do it. They answer for their own actions. They take care of their own matters. They are trustworthy. They use their head. And they don't put things off.
According to Helen Keller, American social activist, public speaker and author, "I long to accomplish some great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble."

Don't forget to join the noble Mrs. Frank this afternoon for Frog Spit Friday, after school at the lunch tables!

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
