Today is Friday, November 9, 2012. The forecast for today is calling mostly cloudy skies with showers on and off today. The high should be around 60 degrees.
This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from _________________ class to lead us with the pledge.
November 9th is officially, "National Young Reader's Day". Kids who read are smarter, better, faster, stronger. Okay, they might not necessarily be all of those things but they are really cool and well-read. And that counts for a lot.
On this day in 1989, East German officials opened the Berlin Wall, allowing travel from East to West Berlin. The following day, celebrating Germans began to tear the wall down. One of the ugliest and most infamous symbols of the Cold War was soon reduced to rubble.
If humans came in as many sizes as dogs, we'd range from three to eighteen feet tall.
The Pillar of the Week has been Citizenship. Which is our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color purple:
Remember, being a good citizen means that you do your share to make your school and community better • Cooperate • Get involved in community affairs.
According to Thomas Jefferson, American Founding Father and third president, “I believe... that every human mind feels pleasure in doing good to another.”
Don't forget about our fundraiser. Orders due November 15th. Mr. Bones, the Fundraising Dog will be visiting X classroom.
Students, please remember that paper airplanes are not to be made and flown on school grounds. The only exception to this ruling is if it is a classroom activity supervised by your teacher. Lately, our campus has become littered with discarded paper airplane. Please be a good citizen of RSU and help keep our campus clean.
This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
