Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is Friday, May 3, 2013. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of around 94 degrees.

Pledge:

This morning, we have a group of college bound roadrunners from Mr. Horstman's class to lead us with the pledge.

Announcements:

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Mallinger's class for the pledge.

Today is...

Officially National Two Different Colored Shoes Day!
Tomorrow is an important day. It is Intergalactic Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be With You!)

On this Day in History:

On April 30, 1952, A ski-modified U.S. Air Force C-47 piloted by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph O. Fletcher of Oklahoma and Lieutenant Colonel William P. Benedict of California becomes the first aircraft to land on the North Pole. A moment later, Fletcher climbed out of the plane and walked to the exact geographic North Pole, probably the first person in history to do so.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:

The largest known ant supercolony stretches nearly 4,000 miles through Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:

The Pillar of the Week is Respect, our second Pillar of Character, represented by the color yellow. Think "The Golden Rule".
  • Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule
  • Be tolerant and accepting of differences
  • Use good manners, not bad language
  • Be considerate of the feelings of others
  • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone
  • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements
According to Bryant H. McGill,  American author, speaker and activist, “One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.”

CST testing continues today. You are all capable and well-prepared, just do your best. Take a deep breath, relax, and show what you know!

Teachers, also remember that all electronic devices must be off during testing. This includes classroom computers, teacher laptops, iPods, and cell phones. Also, students that arrive after 8:30 will not come to your classroom until after testing is complete. They will go to the library.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
