Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 84 of school on this Friday, January 9, 2015. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance for rain today with a high of about 70 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from Mrs. Werner's class to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Ms. Berns class.

Today is...
National Static Electricity Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1788, Connecticut becomes our 5th state of the United States.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
The biggest egg in the world is the ostrich egg. It could take as many as 30 chicken eggs to equal its volume, and up to 2 hours to hard boil.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Trustworthiness, our first Pillar of Character, represented by the color blue. When you think about trustworthiness, think "true blue".
  • Be honest
  • Don't deceive, cheat, or steal
  • Be reliable - do what you say you will do
  • Have the courage to do the right thing
  • Build a good reputation
  • Be loyal - stand by your family, friends, and country
According to J.C. Hare, English clergyman and writer, "The greatest truths are the simplest, and so are the greatest men."

MAP Testing
Begins next week. Be sure to remember to take your time, read the questions thoroughly, and do your best. Teachers, this would be a good time to review expectations and testing techniques.

5th grade week

Talent Show
Auditions are Friday, January 16th after school.  You must have your application turned in by Wed. the 14th to audition. Each person in your group must have an application turned in as well. Have fun with your performance and practice daily!!

Teacher Update:
  • Leadership Team meeting next Monday.
  • Writing Celebration next Wednesday.
  • Mrs. Aguilar is out today. She is becoming a Grandma!

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
RSU Friday
Tomorrow is RSU Friday. We'll see everyone in the Character Counts Quad for morning assembly.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
