Good Morning Rock Springs School!

Today is day 103 of school on this Friday, February 6, 2015. The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of about 79 degrees.

This morning I have a group of college bound Road-Runners from the Kindergarten classes to lead us in the pledge.

Next week we will be joined by Mrs. Baier's class.

Today is...
Lame Duck Day

On this Day in History:
On this day in 1911, Former President, Ronald Reagan was born. As the 40th president of the United States, the former movie star was called the Great Communicator for his ability to get through to ordinary Americans and give them hope and optimism for their own future and that of their country.

Also on the day in 1788, Massachusetts becomes our 6th state of the United States.

Here’s a random Science Facts for today:
Humans can make 10,000 different facial expressions.

Your Character Counts at Rock Springs School:
The Pillar of the Week is Caring, our fifth Pillar of Character, represented by the color red. When you think about caring, think of a red heart.
  • Be kind
  • Be compassionate and show you care
  • Express gratitude
  • Forgive others
  • Help people in need
According to a Swedish Proverb, "Joy shared is twice the joy."

MAP Testing
Testing today is Mrs. McDowell, Mrs. Zacharias and Mrs. Riley. Be sure to remember to take your time, read the questions thoroughly, and do your best.

5th grade week

Teacher Update:
Remember to post on My Big Campus about the article from the staff meeting
Wednesday 2/11 = Site Council meeting
Thursday 2/12 = Grade-Level Collaboration

Safety First!
  • Please remember to walk when traveling through campus.
  • Also remember to use quiet voices in all academic areas.
  • Remember to play safe on the playground and when the bell rings to line up, walk to your line safely. We do not want anyone running as you could get hurt.
  • When you arrive at school in the morning, remember to sit at the lunch tables. All students are to remain sitting at the lunch tables until the duty teacher says that you may get up.
  • At the end of the day, your teacher will walk you to your designated exit for parent pick-up. If your ride is not there, you need to wait, stay at the front of the school and wait patiently and quietly for your ride.
  • RSU Friday
  • Tomorrow is RSU Friday. Show your school spirit by wearing your Rock Springs shirt or school colors. We look forward to seeing everyone in the Character Counts Quad tomorrow morning for the Friday assembly.

This concludes today’s announcements. Thank you college bound roadrunners, and remember,
“Keep a smile on your face, it will increase your face value!”
